Author's Note: Freestyle poetry is not my strong
suit, but an essay about forms of poetry and throwing
in a few limericks and rhyming poems earned me
a wonderful grade for fifth year high school English
at age 31.
If Not For Love
An age-old question nags at me daily.
I fail to see the reason I ask it.
We work to ensure that things are explained,
And we go home to do it over and over.
You only know what questions you have
In your privately dark abode at night.
Still, I think there's something to gain,
By sharing these questions, easing the pain.
What are we here for, if not for love?
I fail to see the reason I ask it.
I want to know what questions you have.
Then we'll have explained one unexplained.
